South Korean carmaker Hyundai has revealed the facelifted Creta SUV at the 2021 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show in Jakarta. The facelifted Hyundai Creta is expected to arrive in India by the second half of 2022.
The 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift sports a brand new front end which looks to be a smaller version of the one found on the Tucson SUV. The facelifted Creta borrows the Tucson's grille design, which is in line with Hyundai's new Sensuous Sportiness design identity
The new grille, like the one on the Tucson and the Santa Fe, features the Parametric Jewel Hidden Lights daytime running lights. These DRLs when switched off blend into the grille. Like on the Tucson, the Creta features vertically stacked headlights on either side of the front bumper. The new Creta also features silver accents for the grille and lower air dam surrounds and on the lower corners of the front bumper.
From the sides, the Creta remains mostly unchanged. The silver surrounds from the front flow around the sides of the new Creta facelift, though the wheel arches feature black plastic cladding. Inside the wheel arches sit the all-new dual tone alloy wheels.
The rear remains mostly unchanged as well with the split taillight design. Like at the front and the sides, the slightly tweaked rear bumper features silver accents. Like the front end, the rear of the Creta features a faux bash plate.
The insides of the facelifted Creta also have been heavily revised. Like the front end of the exterior, the insides of the facelifted Hyundai Creta features a dashboard design that borrows heavily from the Tucson. The interiors feature an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment in the centre of the dash which supports connectivity options like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Underneath the infotainment display sit the controls for the air conditioning system.
The new Creta also features a new four spoke steering wheel and a large fully digital driver's instrument panel. The new Creta also sports a cooled glovebox and an eight speaker sound system from Bose. Other features on the inside include a wireless charging pad for smartphones along with a large sunroof and paddle shifters for versions equipped with Hyundai's dual clutch automatic gearbox.
The new Hyundai Creta also comes with the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) setup from the Korean carmaker which includes collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, highway driving assist, lane following assist ( a more advanced form of cruise control that allows the cars to follow the ones ahead in the same lane on the road) among others. The new ADAS systems on the Creta should help it claw back its tech crown from rivals like the MG Astor.
The 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift brings a wholesale change in the design of the front end of Hyundai's segment-leading SUV. The change is a welcome relief from the current design which looks way wonky with its overtly busy split lights setup and smallish grille. The DRLs look cool both on and off while the new grille gives the SUV a more muscular look.
The addition of a host of safety tech and interesting features like the new fully digital driver's instrument panel, wireless charging and the cooled glovebox will make the Creta an even more desirable SUV.
